A dear colleague of mine at the university used to say to me: “You know, György Laci, an intellectual is someone who has a critical remark about everything, who recognizes the absurdity of a situation.” I think the attic is full of such people, and they are good for nothing. So I answered him: “You know, I think an intellectual is someone who has at least one, or preferably several, proposed solutions for every problem, and moreover, ones that can actually be implemented.”
